The only way to become a better performer is through practice…and performing! Here are a few ways to get more involved in our cello community:
OCM group/studio classes – cello groups, cello choir, theory, and string quartets
Inside the Mind of the Artist – this includes master classes and interactive performance lectures (believe me, it is way more fun that it sounds)
Omaha Youth Area Orchestra – OAYO offers 5 different ensembles from advanced players to beginners
Orchestra Omaha – for book 8+ players, OO is a great way to learn new orchestral repertoire
All-State Orchestra – for sophomores-seniors, this is a state-wide auditioned orchestra that is in the fall.
Honor Orchestras – many universities and schools offer honor orchestras throughout the year (OCM’s Winter Festival is in late winter.) Ask me for ensembles that are best for you.
Omaha Conservatory of Music’s Institute – runs the third week of July and is for all ages!
National Cello Institute – a summer camp for cellos ONLY! Run by cello genius Rick Mooney this is an experience you won’t forget!
Chicago Suzuki Institute – known as Suzuki cello mecca, this is a wonderful Suzuki camp and has the largest contingency of cellos (usually 400 cellists and 200 violinists!)
Interlochen Summer Arts Program – for dedicated student looking for an incredible month-long experience. Simply fantastic.
